If you intentionally hobbled your character by being completely generalist and not picking any advanced skills. So if you do that.you will, with the 4.5k xp stated in the book, theoretically make a character equivalent to a starting RT character. Then spending the rest on all first level of advances to get basic skills and weapon training skills that the RT starts with for free(eg, Pistol training universal, vs split into las, primitive, flame), plus a bit for talents. The 5k xp is essentially spending about half of that on all the characteristics to get the +5 that RT chars start with. I think I see what they did with the math. ![]()
